Now, as you contemplate that statement, ask yourself, do I deserve to be beaten, locked up, or killed for thinking this way?
In this time of politically charged opinions, it’s my humble opinion that we are missing the key to the success of our country.
The real key here is to respect the opinions of each other. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion on avocados, or any issue. I believe that it is our responsibility to accept that the opinion of another does not affect our “eternal salvation” so-to-speak. The beauty of this country we live in is that we’re allowed and encouraged to have our own opinion. IF we feel a cause is just in our eyes we are encouraged to find a way to make it better. Commercials depicting the stoppage of a football game for someone to make the ‘Guac’ are very entertaining, and have no bearing on my love or hate of avocados. However, I’m sure there are others in this country that agree with the advertisers, without this creamy green-ish colored side dish, chips just aren’t worth eating.
There is NOTHING gained by personally attacking someone with a different opinion. It’s APPROPRIATE to share your opinion IF you’re willing to listen to the opinion of another. If you sway the opinion of another, or if another’s opinion sways yours, AWESOME, if neither of you experience a change of view… AWESOME!
My wife LOVES avocados, and she has tried for years to get me to love guacamole. I’ll admit freely, I have tried them on several occasions in dips, salads, sandwiches, etc. but I have yet to find an avocado that I like.
Where we succeed is when both sides find a common ground and either agree to meet in the middle and move forward, or both sides agree to disagree and move forward. Chips and Salsa is a great treat for me, my wife will add guacamole to the mix and it’s great for her. Either way, we get to enjoy something together… Chips and a yummy dip.
I encourage each of us to find that common ground in all our opinions. I am not a horrible person because I dislike avocados, and you are a wonderful person even if you like avocados.
